CONSERVATION LANDS

The City of Taunton owns many parcels which are deeded for Conservation purposes only. These purposes include the following examples: drinking water sources, groundwater protection areas, flood storage areas, storm-water filtering areas, pollution prevention buffers, areas for protection or harvesting of shellfish, areas for protection or harvesting of finfish, and areas for passive recreation involving wildlife. The three Local Conservation Authorities all play a role in the protection and development of these parcels. The following is a sample of what the City has for Conservation Lands.
